Our PSHE curriculum provides the foundation for children to become healthy, confident, independent and responsible members of society. A Holy Family citizen understands how they are developing personally, socially, emotionally and spiritually, and feels supported and empowered to face the opportunities and challenges of growing up.

Through our PSHE curriculum, children learn about relationships, physical and mental wellbeing, personal safety, citizenship, responsibilities and their place within both the local and global community. Rooted in Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching, our curriculum nurtures respect, compassion, resilience and a deep understanding of the dignity of every person.

As a Catholic school, we are committed to developing the whole child and helping every pupil to flourish as a unique child of God.

Implementation

At Holy Family Catholic Primary School, we deliver PSHE through Life to the Full Plus, an award-winning programme from Ten Ten Resources that has been developed specifically for Catholic schools and is based upon the Catholic Education Service's model curriculum for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE). The programme supports the statutory requirements for Relationships Education and Health Education whilst remaining faithful to Catholic teaching.

Life to the Full Plus provides a fully integrated and progressive curriculum from EYFS to Year 6. Learning is carefully sequenced so that key themes are revisited and developed at an age-appropriate level as children move through the school. The programme combines engaging video content, discussion opportunities, reflective prayer and creative activities to support children's understanding and personal development.

Through the programme, pupils develop knowledge and skills across a range of areas including:

• Mental health and emotional wellbeing
• Healthy relationships and friendships
• Keeping safe, including online safety
• Physical health and healthy lifestyles
• Rights and responsibilities
• Citizenship and community participation
• Money and careers education
• Personal identity and self-respect
• Life changes and transitions

PSHE is also supported through collective worship, classroom discussions, pastoral support, enrichment opportunities and the wider curriculum. We continue to strengthen links with Catholic Social Teaching, Caritas in Action and Building the Kingdom, enabling children to understand how Gospel values can be lived out in everyday life and within the wider community.

We recognise that parents are the first educators of their children. Through the Ten Ten Parent Portal and school communication, we work closely with families to ensure that learning is supported both at school and at home.

Measuring Impact

The impact of our PSHE curriculum is measured through ongoing teacher assessment, pupil voice, observations, discussions and learning reflections. Teachers continually assess pupils' knowledge, understanding and personal development throughout lessons and wider school experiences.

The Life to the Full Plus programme includes clear learning outcomes and assessment opportunities which enable staff to monitor progress and ensure children are developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to flourish.

Successful outcomes are evident when pupils:

• Make informed choices about their wellbeing and safety.
• Understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens.

Through our PSHE curriculum, we aim to ensure that every child at Holy Family is equipped to "live life to the full" (John 10:10), becoming a confident, compassionate and active member of society.
