Who are we?
Tracey Turri
Hi, my name is Tracey and I am the Chair of the Governing Body.
After leaving school, I went to work for a local insurance company and stayed with them for 15 years. When my children were small, I decided to change to a career that would allow me more time with them and started teaching maths part-time at a local college. After getting made redundant from this job, I decided to retrain to teach maths in a secondary school. I have been teaching at St Bede’s Catholic College for over 8 years and during that time I have acted as Head of Year 7 twice and am currently Head of Seacole House. My two daughters attended St Bede’s so it feels like I have been there a lot longer.
I am a member of the Finance & Premises committee and have subject responsibility for SEN and PE.
I am Fr Eugene Campbell and I am Parish Priest of Holy Family Parish as well as being a Foundation Governor of both Holy Family School and St Mary's School, Bradley Stoke. I am currently Vice Chair of the Governing Body.
I have been ordained 30 years and have mainly served in parishes within the Bristol / South Gloucestershire areas. I have served on the governing bodies of many primary and secondary schools, which gives me a good knowledge of the workings of a school. I enjoy being a governor and helping the school to deal with the mountains of legislation and demands made on them from local authorities and the government. I particularly like working on the Admissions Committee and the Premises and Finance Committee of the governors. This year I am also the link governor for safeguarding and for pupil premium, and it will be my role to report back to the governors. I enjoy travelling and cooking when I get the chance.
My background before priesthood was in catering and law, where I was a police officer in the Metropolitan Police Force. I have been an ordained Catholic Priest for over 26 years and have served as a primary school foundation governor in various Catholic schools over the last 26 years in the Diocese of Clifton. Currently, I am a foundation governor and vice chair of governors at Holy Family and also a foundation governor at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Bradley Stoke. I am also Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Parish, Patchway. My pecuniary interest is being a foundation governor at another Catholic primary school with the same catchment area of Holy Family Parish, Patchway.
My name is Liz Townend. I work as the Director of Education for the Church of England Diocese of Bristol. My role brings me into regular contact with a number of schools all striving to provide an environment where children flourish academically, socially and spiritually.
Previously a Teaching and Learning Adviser, I supported school staff in their professional development.
I enjoy my role as governor at Holy Family Primary School, offering both challenge and support to the senior leaders and the committed staff as they seek to provide effective learning in the classroom. Alongside others, I try to bring awareness of current initiatives and challenges in education to the governing body while sustaining the Christian distinctiveness and inclusion of all in the school so every child and adult in the community may flourish.
I am a member of the Teaching & Learning Committee with subject responsibility for humanities.
Hi, my name is Becky Thornton-Smith and I am a Foundation Governor at Holy Family Primary School where I have the governor linked responsibility for RE and PSHE. I am also Chair of the Teaching & Learning Committee. I am a parishioner at Holy Family Church where I work with a small team of sacramental catechists. We prepare our parish children for their First Reconciliation and to receive their First Holy Communion. I also lead a children's group at the annual Celebrate Catholic charismatic conference.
I am passionate about children's education and about supporting everyone at Holy Family School as governor.
I work as the Head Receptionist at an NHS dentist and I live locally with my husband and two cats.
My name is Emily Ives and I am a teacher and staff governor at Holy Family Catholic Primary School. I am also the science coordinator for the school as well as the Eco Committee coordinator.
My governor responsibilities are the creative subjects and I am also on the Teaching & Learning Committee. I am passionate about teaching and the education of our pupils.
In my spare time I am also a keen table tennis player and play in the local Bristol table tennis league for Thornbury.
My name is Lisa Lackie. I live with my husband and three children, who all attend Holy Family Catholic Primary School. I work as a primary school Assistant Head at a school in Bristol and I run Music with Mummy classes for babies and toddlers too. My hobbies include singing, dancing and spending time with my family. I am a member of the Teaching & Learning committee. My link governor subjects are English and EYFS.
Hi, my name is Rocio Serrano and I have recently become a parent governor for the first time and I feel very privileged to have the opportunity. I felt motivated to become a governor because as a parent of two children who attend Holy Family Primary Catholic School, I wanted to be able to support the school and contribute positively to the educational community.
I believe in the idea that children learn best when they receive comprehensive emotional and social support and I am proud of all that Holy Family does to create an inclusive educational environment for the children. I have an Industrial Designer degree and a Masters in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering and in my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, running, dancing and I do love making crafts with my daughters. I am the STEM subject link governor with subject responsibility for science and maths.
