Advent is a season of waiting. The leaves have fallen, the weather is cold, the trees are bare, and the days are much shorter as darkness comes earlier each evening. We have begun our Advent journey of waiting to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas.

 

God our Father, as we light our first Advent candle,

Help us to wait patiently for the birth of your Son, Jesus,

Show us ways we can share Christ’s light during Advent,

So that the world might know the hope and love that your Son brings.

Amen.

 

We listened to the story of the annunciation during our reflection and said some bidding prayers about hope.

 

An action for the week is: Think of a person that you would like to bring hope to, make that person a card and let them know that you are thinking of them and praying for them every day.
