We are made for community and communion with one another, living and sharing our daily lives, hopes and dreams." Caritas in Action.

We all have responsibilities to our families, our communities and to each other. We are all needed in our families and our communities. Remember there are different communities, and different ways to belong. Together we can all help to create God’s kingdom.

Some members of the Chaplaincy Team introduced our new focus of Catholic Social Teaching for this term through an assembly to the whole school. The children involved planned, resourced and delivered this assembly independently! We are very proud of them.

Each year group looked at the theme of 'Family and Community' in term 2. See examples of the work produced in the photographs below.

Year 1 The children learnt about the fantastic work CAFOD do to support families living through adverse conditions, such as those affected by the severe drought in Kenya. They were keen to support CAFOD in their mission. 💡Their idea was to help their own families at home by doing something water related and raise money for this amazing charity! 💦They had lots of ideas: washing up after a meal; helping to mop the floor; washing the car; helping to sort the laundry; helping a younger sibling to wash and brush their teeth, etc.💦 In turn, they asked for a donation for CAFOD.

Year 5 The children thought about what 'Family and Community' means to them. They heard about a woman called Louisma, who helped women in her community with the help of the Catholic Relief Service. Following this, the children thought about their role within their family and community and what they could do to support those around them.
