Year 6 science
The science unit for terms 1 and 2 in Year 6 has been animals including humans focussing on blood and transportation and heart and health.
The children have taken part in many science investigations to show their learning. One was an investigation including gummy bears being left in different liquids. Another was timing how long it would take water to flow through different sized holes in cups - showing blood flow through arteries and the impact fatty deposits can have on these.
To end the term, we had the opportunity to take part in a virtual Christmas Science Day with 90 other schools in the Local Authority. The task was to make a pulley system to help Father Christmas get the presents down the chimney! It was great fun and we spent the whole day working on this: completing the experiment, writing up the results and sharing virtually with all the schools again in the afternoon.
