DT - Making Windmills
Our school caretaker needs us to design and make a windmill to tell him when it is windy outside. To be successful, our design:
•Should stand up on its own
•Should have a part to catch the wind and a standing structure
•Should move in the wind
We learnt that a stable structure can stand up on its own and is not easily toppled over.
We decided our paper cup structures would be more stable if we placed them with the widest part down and added weight to the base.
We cut carefully to make the sails of the windmill and learnt about how windmills are used.
