Black History Week
We learned about Aretha Franklin, a famous African-American singer and the first woman to be entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Aretha was the queen of soul; her hit song 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T' is still a much loved anthem. She stood up for woman and people of colour and she fought against racism. One of her closest friends was Martin Luther King and her greatest honour was singing for Barrack Obama, the first African-American president of America, at his inauguration.
We enjoyed learning Aretha's amazing story, from singing in the bath as a little girl to becoming an international superstar!
We hope you enjoy looking at the fabulous Aretha portraits we painted.
