Our class is taking part in a special project to learn all about microbes, hygiene, infection and antibiotics.

In our first lab session, we learned that there are three different types of microbe (viruses, bacteria and fungi) and that some microbes are helpful and some microbes are harmful. We learned that germs are harmful microbes that can make us ill.

We had fun creating our own microbes in petri dishes, just like real scientists! We made  Playdoh viruses, bacteria (balls, rods or spirals) and fungi. Then we decided if they were helpful or harmful and gave them creative names like 'Rockstar' and 'Tootumto'!
